We all want strong and secure identities as human beings. We also want a sense of belonging with people that matter to us and who give us our identities.
Parents of children have a crucial role in the development and entrenchment of positive and strong identities amongst their children. Parents also have an equally significant role to play in ensuring a sense of belonging for their children. These are our future adults and we need to ensure that they grow up to be well-balanced individuals that are capable of positively contributing to our families and our communities.
No child needs to feel unwanted, not belonging, and hidden. Adults need to take accountability for their actions despite negative possible results in relationships that they have already formed. Children should not be the ones that suffer as a result of our selfish decisions.
Over and above that, let us not have secrets that end up harming our children, including possible inbreeding and accidental incest amongst them. Adults need to learn that their selfish, secret decisions have the potential to affect between five to seven generations after them.
